Enjolras grimaces slightly at that last. Frustrating, but nothing new.

He hadn't known Victor Hugo much at all. One of the Romantic set, and certainly they had many acquaintances in common, but Hugo was a royalist, strongly in favor of Louis-Philippe Orleans, and primarily concerned with challenging society in ways Enjolras cared little about. There was very little overlap in their lives and interests.

All nine of them. Not at all the whole society of the Amis de l'ABC, nothing like all, but assuredly the central leadership. And that list wasn't too widely known: Marius very likely gave a great deal of information once it was no longer dangerous to tell, from the sound of this.

"Do you think I ought to read it?"

He's not much for fiction, even fiction in the service of good causes, but he'll read it if a friend genuinely thinks it would be useful for him to do so.
